A humble cafe that started in 1989 inside a local bowling center, Jackie’s Bowl along East Coast Road; it has since become a full fledged restaurant spanning over 3 outlets in various locations in Singapore.
The café was the first in Singapore that was serving local cooked food inside a bowling center. On top of the usual curry puffs, chicken pies, sandwiches, and hot dogs that was on the menu then at Different Taste Café, they were also selling Curry Fish Head and other “Zhi Char” dishes like Foo Yong Omelet, Chicken Prawn Paste, Honey Pork Spare Ribs and Sweet & Sour Sliced Fish just to name a few.
The founders of the Different Taste Café & Restaurant Mr and Mrs Sam Ang has for many years now through practice and perseverance of trying to perfect their food, they have reached a place where they are known in the area for serving a great variety of local fare with great taste that keeps their customers satisfied and always coming back for more. As a Peranakan, there is always much emphasis on authentic way of cooking as well as sourcing for the freshest ingredients and complex ways of using to create that exquisite taste and provide simple food with a unique taste.
